Yet another blog?!
Yes, but not one you should plan on following too closely. There will be no schedule, no comments, no storyline. Just a collection of information one might stumble upon if working on a similar project. Think, flashing ESP-Home on a ceiling light, packet capturing on a smart thermostat and cybersecurity labs.
So what is the blog about then?
I am a naturally curious person, someone with a strong desire to understand. Someone who has asked "why" one to many times more than once. Ever wondered what information your phone transmits over Bluetooth? Or your smart thermostat over the internet? I have, and it led me learning about Bleak (a Python BLE package) and Micropython to be able to write Python for a Raspberry Pi Zero. It lead me to learning that many Bluetooth trackers can be identified by the data they send. I learned about WireShark and Package Capture, my curiously even led me to studying for and receiving an Amateur Radio license.
I could go on and on about the projects I have worked on and learned from. But up until now, all the documentation and results would disappear in a box only to be seen again if they were relevant for the next project. Meanwhile I was learning most of my knowledge from the write ups of others. This blog will contain very little, if any, personal stories, but I can guarantee you will be able to learn something from it. My hope is by documenting my struggles, learning process and solutions can help others with theirs.
After all what is knowledge if not shared? Let this blog be a place for the curious.
